The Captain Riser Base is a support structure for the diverless tie-in of a pipeline in one end and flexible risers in the other. It is Apply Nemo Engineering’s standardized Riser Base design. A combination of light weight and low friction GRP sliding plate allows for direct tie-in to pipeline, thus avoiding the need for expansion spool. The structural foundation is designed for resting on a rock dump or another form of firm foundation. The Captain Riser Base is independent of type of connector and connection system. The riserbase are equipped with a Flapper valve; prevent backflow from pipeline in case of riser rupture. The valve can be locked open by ROV. It is also equipped with a ROV operated ball valve for pipeline isolation which purpose is to avoid pipeline flooding during a flapper valve or riser replacement operation.
